🇲🇽LET’S CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH 🇲🇽LET’S CELEBRATE HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH WITH @drinkpicadas
One thing I don’t talk about is that I often travel solo. On my recent road trip, I decided to bring along my parents for a well-deserved getaway to one of my favorite places in Texas, San Antonio!
I introduced them to one of my favorite Hispanic-owned businesses @drinkpicadas, they are Mexican-made hard aguas frescas. My dad enjoyed the mango flavor and my mom loved the guava flavor and said it was so good she didn’t even know it had alcohol in it!
I treated them to a nice family dinner, and introduced my mom to Mezcal, that watermelon cocktail was delicious! I convinced my dad to share the Tomahawk with me even though he said it was too much. Spoiler alert, not one piece was left.
And lastly, we made sure to spend some time relaxing by the pool, the hot tub, and the lazy river! Safe to say I had an amazing getaway with my parents and I can’t wait to bring them along on my next adventure! Cheers to spending time with family!
Thanks to Picadas for sponsoring this post!

This HAS to be one of the coolest bars I’ve ever been to and I can totally see why it made the list of @50bestbars in North America. PS: I highly recommend making reservations.
Take a trip back in time through the bayous of Louisiana in a 36 seat Presidential Pullman-inspired train car for a 90 minute immersive experience. Start off with complimentary bubbles, choose from amazing award winning cocktails, then end the trip with an alcohol infused chocolate treat!
Highly recommend the clarified milk punch which comes in a pink teacup, Blame the Dutch which tastes like Thai food, and lipstick & earrings.

How cool is the entrance to this 15-course speakeasy-inspired Omakase? We started off our experience by sharing what we were celebrating that night, took a sake shot, and started our journey through an amazing menu.
Some of my absolute favorites were the SHIRO SAKE (Ivory white salmon with Thai basil chimichurri), FOIE GRAS, AKAMI (the tuna just melted in your mouth), and ended the night with an amazing Mexican vanilla bean salted green tea affogato. Thanks for having us!
Definitely a good spot for your next celebration! It seats only 18 people so make your reservations in advance. Open Thursday-Sunday with 2 seatings a night at $175/pp

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

How do you plan your trips and decide where to go ?

Social media definitely plays a huge role on influencing us to visit certain spots. We also follow websites like Escape Houston or Scott’s Cheap Flights, etc and plan our trips when those destinations are on sale or during mid-to-low season to get better prices. Ana loves to do research and read blogs for planning itineraries and there are times when the information is not readily available so we would like to change that with our blog.

How can you afford to travel so much?

We are always looking out for cheap deals on flights. Escape Houston, Google Flights, and Scott’s Cheap Flights are some of the resources we like to use to find good deals on flights. Additionally, we learned how to use credit card points to earn miles in exchange for free trips and we would love to share these tricks with you. For example, we have booked a roundtrip to Kenya for two, roundtrip to Taiwan for two, and one way to Hawaii first class for two on miles alone!

How do you have all this vacation time?

Well the truth is we don’t have much vacation time. We may look like we travel all year long but in reality we work 9-5 majority of the year. We learned to take advantage of the weekends and holidays to extend our vacations without having to take as much time off.

How can I start traveling?

Start local! Break yourself in by traveling to nearby towns and cities within a few hours from where you live. Then move on to traveling domestically and then internationally. Also, always be on the lookout for good deals. Sometimes we pick destinations based on how cheap the fare is.

I am going to Houston, what should I do?

Houston is a multicultural city with so much to offer. Whether you love the outdoors, shopping, eating, arts and murals, there is something for everyone. Check out our Houston Category for things to do in Houston.

Why do you live in Houston?

We were born and raised in Houston and it has always been home. The one thing we love most about Houston is the food! Houston is so diverse that you can have just about every type of cuisine. We also love exploring the murals and finding new things to do. Check out our Houston Category for things to do in Houston.
