These vibrant fantasy creatures come straight from Mexico City’s folk-art tradition, handmade with cartonería, a detailed papier-mâché technique.
Now through March 29, 2027, you can spot 12 of them around Downtown Garland Square, 4 massive sculptures + 8 smaller ones. Guided tours coming in November.
Bonus stops:

🧡🌞Día de los Muertos at @torotorohouston always ex 🧡🌞Día de los Muertos at @torotorohouston always exceeds expectations, and this year’s sun-inspired menu might be my favorite yet.
From now through November 3, they are serving incredible themed dishes and cocktails, and a beautiful five-course tasting experience curated by @chefrichardsandoval
Here is what we tried:
Luz de Mar Tiradito: Fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced.
Fuego del Sol Short Rib: Incredibly tender, served with a charred poblano cheese enchilada.
Amanecer Pumpkin Brûlée: Mind-blowing and the perfect finale.
The drink menu is just as intentional. The Elote Mezcalita brings savory, and smoky notes, while the Sol offers a crisp mix of sparkling wine, marigold, and mango. The unexpected star was the Punch Calavera, a zero-proof blend of hibiscus, cinnamon tea, and guava that everyone at the table loved.

Valentine's Day Staycation at The Moran CITYCENTRE in Houston

Don’t have any plans for Valentine’s? Treat your valentine to a staycation at The Moran CITYCENTRE in Houston, Texas. Keep reading to find out about their Valentine’s special.

Why do a staycation, you ask? Why not? First, I honestly loved exploring a different area of Houston that I wasn’t too familiar with.

Second, I also loved being able to walk to anything I needed. As the hotels ground floor is comprised of retail and restaurants, you are walking to distance to everything you need for the perfect staycation!

Did you know The Moran CITYCENTRE was nominated for Travel + Leisure World’s best awards in 2021? Come find out why!

Thank you for hosting me The Moran CITYCENTRE, and as always all opinions are my own.

Valentine's Special

Valentines package at The Moran CITYCENTRE Houston, Texas

The Moran CITYCENTRE has several specials going on but my favorite is the MIYO Valentine Pacakage.

For instance, book your MIYO Valentine Package for the weekend of February 12-15. Customize your stay for maximum romance with any or all of the following choices:

  • Champagne & chocolate-covered strawberries
  • early check-in, late check-out or both
  • coups de grace, a special Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe Dinner at Radio Milano. Visit TheMoranHotel.com to book. (I had a preview of this dinner and y’all it was SO good, highly recommend it) Click here for the menu.

The Room

Junior Suite at The Moran CITYCENTRE Houston, Texas

Two words, THE VIEW, I seriously couldn’t get over the amazing view of CITYCENTRE from my room! This is the junior suite but all rooms have floor to ceiling windows and hardwood floors. I enjoyed how spacious the room was including the bathroom.

Also, I love it when hotels provide robes during your stay. There were two plush terrycloth robes in the closet that were so comfortable!

Above all, the bed was absolutely comfortable and so was the couch to relax after a full day of shopping! Am I right?

Similarly, if you want to see a video room tour of the junior suite click here.

Location, Location, Location

The Moran CITYCENTRE Houston, Texas

I can’t say enough about the location at CITYCENTRE. Within steps you are at several restaurants, shopping options, and lifestyle options. Radio Milano is located at the hotel and has a special Valentines Day menu.

If you visit during Valentines, there is this beautiful setup of silk roses in a heart shape, right in front of The Moran, perfect for all your valentines pictures!

Self park in the garage and don’t think about driving all weekend! I recommend parking on the 3rd floor as there is a walkway directly to the hotel.

In conclusion

The Moran CITYCENTRE pool Houston, Texas

During the pandemic, The Moran CITYCENTRE introduced a stay clean program with nano-septic self-cleaning elevator buttons and door handle wraps, and electrostatic sprayers with enhanced cleaning treatments, among other measures which allow for the safety of their guests and employees.

By the way, make sure you bring your swimsuit in case Houston’s weather decides to warm up for a bit, if not you can still enjoy some sun and the view out by this beautiful pool.

In conclusion, looking for a one stop shop staycation? Look no further! The Moran is the perfect spot for a staycation for Valentine’s Day in Houston, Texas.
