Where to stay on Cape Cod: West Dennis
It was my first time on the Cape and I had no clue there were so many towns consisting of Cape Cod! We started looking for where to stay on Cape Cod and came across Lighthouse Inn, located in West Dennis. We decided to stay in the middle of it all in West Dennis.
The town of Dennis encompasses five distinct villages, which are Dennis (including North Dennis), Dennis Port, East Dennis, South Dennis, and West Dennis.
The town of Dennis spans from Cape Cod Bay to the north and Nantucket Sound to the south. Therefore, you can find beautiful white-sand beaches on both the bay side and the ocean side.
Lighthouse Inn, located on West Dennis, is the only privately owned, privately maintained working lighthouse in the country. The light, which is a one-second white flash every six seconds, is now recognized by the Coast Guard as the West Dennis Light.
West Dennis Lighthouse Tours are currently not available for 2020 season due to social distancing orders. Photo timeline is displayed and available to view in Lower Deck of Lighthouse Inn.

Accommodations
Lighthouse Inn consists of Rooms, Ocean Front Rooms, Accessible Rooms, Cottages, and Suites.
We stayed in one of their rooms which had a separate bedroom with a twin bed and included a private bathroom. It was located on the Second Floor with narrow stairs but no worries as one of the employees can help bring your luggage up. We also had a small balcony with a side ocean view.
In addition, some of the room features include mini refrigerator, coffee maker, and electronic door lock with card among others.
Amenities
Private Beach Access – I loved being able to walk a couple of steps from my room and enjoy this view! In addition, beach chairs and towels are provided so you can leave those at home!
Dining – It was no nice to have breakfast, lunch and dinner options onsite. We had lunch and dinner at the waterfront restaurant and I highly recommend the fish sandwich and tacos! The food was great and so was the service!
Similarly, other key amenities are an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, a fire pit, a playground, shuffleboard, miniature golf, volleyball, a game room, and a lounge.
Overall, there is so much to do at Lighthouse Inn that we didn’t even need to leave the property if we didn’t want to!
In conclusion, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Cape Cod, Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis is a great option! Give everyone a vacation they deserve. Bring the kids, Lighthouse Inn has Summer Family Activities for the family in July and August. Similarly, bring a loved one and enjoy a drink watching a beautiful sunset right on the beach.
The Lighthouse Inn is open Memorial Day Weekend until Columbus Day in October.
Travel Tip: Rent a car so you can freely explore The Cape! We pretty much drove around the whole Cape and enjoyed staying in the center of it all at Lighthouse Inn.
